Colds & Natural Remedies…How Many Do You Need?

FudgeHow many cures have you tried all winter long for colds and flu?

In fact, you probably feel like you have tried just about every thing! Right?

Betty, my friend received a phone call from here daughter, Paula who was sick and tired of being sick…  She asked Betty what to do.

Wow,  just imagine 3 sick kids – the baby is 6 months old and is fussy and coughing. In the background  you can hear the other children are irritable and…well… Paula doesn’t feel well either.  They all are feeling miserable!

Betty told Paula about coconut oil and what it could do for her and the  children. Betty, also, suggested that she go on line and read about the beneficial effect of coconut oil.

Less than 24 hours later, Paula called Betty to tell her the results of taking some coconut oil and rubbing it on the childrens backs and chests. They all felt so much better this morning. The older children were not fighting with each other, the baby was cooing and had stopped coughing  and she had felt good enough to get 6 loads of wash done already and sounded so happy. Life was really worth living!

Most people find they can eat coconut oil off the spoon., but if they can’t my Quickie Fudge is an almost sure fire way to entice you to eat it. The real recipe is super but we developed  the 10-min fudge. The recipe is below:

10-Minute Fudge

  1. Put 3 tablespoons of coconut oil in a dish or cup.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon cocoa or carob powder. If you use cocoa add a little honey  ( 1 teaspoon) We don’t bother to sweeten the carob.
  3. Then add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, a few grains of salt and 1/8th to 1/4 tsp cinnamon.
  4. Stir well until all is blended.

Place the mix on a piece of wax paper or parchment paper about 1/4 inch or more thick and put in refrigerator or freezer for 5 minutes.

It is easier to cut the final product if I score the fudge when I first put it on the wax paper. If it is a little bit runny it still seems to make it easier.

In 5  minutes it is hard. Cut it. If it needs to be in the refrigerator, put it back in for another 5 minutes.

If you have leftovers, put it in a covered dish,  jar, or a clean dry yogurt container and return it to the refrigerator.

You may be surprised how much “fudge” you will crave. It is OK. Your body will tell you when you have had enough. You just get the feeling “it was good but I have had enough.”

There are many different natural cold remedies. You only need one natural cold remedy – when it works for you!

Enjoy!
