Sleeping Through the Night

Do you wake up between 2 AM and  4 AM and want to stay awake the rest of the night?  So do I.  The problem is that I know I need more sleep. Just laying there figuring I will drop back off to sleep doesn’t work.

May I tell  you what I do?

I quietly get up and go to the kitchen and get some protein to eat.  I used to be able to get a glass of milk. I would drink it and go back to bed.  I  woke up rested and it was morning!  Milk no longer does it for me.

So I either cook up a little ground meat –  maybe a two inch round patty or scramble an egg or two.

Then back to bed and maybe read 5 minutes and off to sleep. The next thing I know I am waking up!

Often times we  have some ground meat or a couple eggs just before going to bed.  I realize people often say do not eat  for 4 hours before going to bed. I do!  I figure it is better to eat than to be awake at least half the night.

I do not have to eat during the night if I have something to eat just before bed!

The older I get the more careful I have to be. I used to be able to eat fruit before bed but not any more.   I thought it was just old lady aging but  my far away daughter finds a similar eating pattern  is helpful for her.

Do I wake up between 2 and 4 AM ? Not if I do what I know I have to do.  i would rather get up with energy for the new  day!
